Adding a product

How to add purchased products to the Product Ecosystem

To add a product, you must first be connected with the supplier

  1. Go to Supplier

  2. Select the supplier you want to add products for

  3. Select Add, and you can either upload products via CSV or one by one

Product name

Provide the name of the product you will be providing data for.

Product reference

Provide the reference number of product you will be providing data for. Ideally you should use the reference number that is shared between customer/supplier, if available.

Product description

  • Describe the good or service for which you are supplying product lifecycle GHG data. This may be a good such as a “180-gram tube of toothpaste in a cardboard package” or a service such as the “design of a color A5 advertising flyer.”

  • Products from different locations may have markedly different footprints due to local circumstances, such as the use of different types of fuel or different generation methods used to create electricity for the grid. As long as it is not prohibited under the product footprinting methodology that you use, then you can differentiate between products made at different locations. You should however:

    • Explain what you have done;

    • Give the locations that supply products to your customer, if applicable; and

    • Not selectively present or cherry-pick the locations that give the lowest product footprints, by providing either the product footprints for a range of locations or the average footprint figure across all locations.
